Golden Bead Cards

Printed stand-ins for the golden bead material — cards picturing a unit bead, a ten-bar, a hundred square, and a thousand cube, nine of each.

For use with: Golden Beads & Mat

In this kit

36 bead cards (9 each of unit, ten-bar, hundred square, thousand cube)

Assembly

  1. Print all pages on cardstock at 100% scale; check the 1-inch square on page 1.
  2. Cut the cards apart along the dashed lines.
  3. These cards substitute for the expensive bead-cabinet pieces. Units and tens are cheap to make from real beads (golden pony beads on pipe cleaners — see the using-this-site guide), so many families use real units and tens with printed hundreds and thousands.
  4. Pair this kit with the Large Number Cards kit to play the bank game: the child fetches quantities, you lay the number.

Golden Bead Cards — Kit

In this kit: 36 bead cards (9 each of unit, ten-bar, hundred square, thousand cube).

Print at 100% scale (“Actual size” — turn off “Fit to page”). This square must measure exactly 1 inch (2.54 cm) on each side. If it doesn’t, fix the print scale before cutting.

✂ Cut along dashed lines; pieces with a colored frame are cut around the frame.

A free Montessori mathematics resource for families — ages 4–12. No accounts, no tracking: just lessons to read, materials to explore, and worksheets to print.

Virtual materials are a substitute for when the real thing isn't available — hands on real beads is always best. All child practice beyond the materials themselves is designed for pencil and paper.
