For parents
The golden beads make place value physical: a ten really is ten unit beads, and a thousand is a cube your child can hold. Your child fetches quantities from the bank, builds numbers on the mat, and adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides by moving and exchanging real pieces — carrying and borrowing become bank trades instead of tricks. The Check button marks each place honestly, like counting the beads back yourself. This work prepares the stamp game, bead frames, and written column arithmetic.
Make the real thing
- Large Number Cards — The full set of large number cards, 1 through 9,000, at true physical size — card width grows with each place so the cards stack to compose numbers.36 number cards (1–9,000)
- Golden Bead Cards — Printed stand-ins for the golden bead material — cards picturing a unit bead, a ten-bar, a hundred square, and a thousand cube, nine of each.36 bead cards (9 each of unit, ten-bar, hundred square, thousand cube)
- Place-Value Play Money — Paper bills in place-value colors — $1 green, $10 blue, $100 red — for exchange games that mirror the golden beads and stamps.30 bills (10 each of $1, $10, $100)

Printable follow-up work
- Golden Bead Pictures — Count pictured golden bead quantities and write the numeral — or read a numeral and draw the beads.
- Place Value & Expanded Form — Stretch numbers into expanded form, compose them back together, and name the value of underlined digits.
- Multi-Digit Operations — Vertical addition, subtraction, and multiplication — the pencil-and-paper follow-up to golden bead, stamp game, and bead frame work.
- Command Cards — Cut-out task-card decks for the golden beads, stamp game, hundred board, bead frames, fraction circles, and checkerboard — the child draws a card and works independently with the material; the key lets a parent check each card.
